About — Model Rocketry Society

A society built around curiosity and flight.

Since 2016, MRS has given curious young minds a place to ask, build, launch and explore together.

01 — Our story

Our story.

A question can become a project. A project can become a rocket. A launch can create a new question.

Because engineering isn't learned from a textbook alone.

You have to build it.
Test it.
Break it.
Fix it.
Fly it.

Learn. Build. Test. Launch.

What we believe

Four principles shape every workshop, build and launch we run.

01

Curiosity starts it

Questions lead to discovery.

02

Building proves it

Ideas become real through action.

03

Failure teaches it

Every test reveals something.

04

Experience shapes it

The best lessons stay with you.

02 — Vision & mission

Why MRS exists.

The belief behind every question, project and launch.

Purpose

Make Aerospace real.

Bring aerospace closer to students through:

RocketeeringEngineeringExperimentationFlightMentorship

Give students the opportunity to experience what it means to think and build like an engineer.

Vision

A generation that doesn't just dream about the future. They build it.

We envision a future where every curious student has the opportunity to explore aerospace, experiment with technology and discover their potential.

Mission

Turn curiosity into capability.

Through hands-on learning, technical projects, mentorship and real launch experiences, we help students take their first steps into aerospace.

03 — Our mentors

Guidance for the next attempt.

Mentors bring experience. Members bring the questions.

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

Former President of India · Aerospace Scientist · The Missile Man of India

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was an aerospace engineer who shaped India’s space and missile programmes — from the SLV-III project to the Agni and Prithvi programmes. His life remains a reminder that curiosity, discipline and hands-on work can take a young mind anywhere.

Dream, dream, dream. Dreams transform into thoughts and thoughts result in action.

Dr. G. Madhavan Nair

Dr. G. Madhavan Nair

Former Chairman, ISRO · Distinguished Space Scientist

Dr. G. Madhavan Nair is a renowned Indian space scientist and former Chairman of ISRO. His experience and vision help guide MRS as young members explore flight through real projects.

Experience that reaches beyond the horizon.

P. Radhakrishnan

P. Radhakrishnan

Former ISRO Scientist · Deputy Director, Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre

P. Radhakrishnan spent decades at the heart of India’s space programme, working on systems reliability and quality assurance for launch-vehicle propulsion. Selected for astronaut training in 1985, he brings a rare blend of rigorous testing and real flight experience to every conversation with MRS members.

Every successful launch is built on questions asked, tested and answered.
